The Kult of Khaotika: Why You Should Keep Your Eye On the Disciples of Mayhem

While this page was set up to primarily promote the wonderful local people of San Diego, I've gotta do a plug of my own because this band is too exceptional not to acknowledge. Founded in Atlanta, Georgia, Khaotika is a "female fronted occult metal" band whose brand new EP "Bloodline Empire" is a promising debut in what will hopefully be a long career of high-octane, spine-chilling darkness.  Lariyah Daniels unleashes the furious demons inside her that just could not be released as authentically as when she was in Hessler.  This is a gigantic step forward for her creatively, musically, and spiritually; the banshee screams and echoic harmonies of her vocal range is terrifyingly seductive.  The woman is sinfully beautiful too, but she doesn't let aesthetics hinder her from impaling your ears with a gratuitous amount of demonic energy.  Check out the band's debut video, and you'll see exactly what I mean.

When you purchase the "Bloodline Empire" EP, you will be exposed to a myriad of gothic-infused grooves, ambient black riffs, and an incredibly thoughtful cover of Watain's "They Rode On."  But the song that most captured my attention and made me want to call dibs on being the first Khaotika groupie ever was "Masters ov Mayhem."  What starts as a swelling chorus of shrieks and black metal riffs erupts into a typhoon of sinister harmonies that pack a high-octane punch matched only by Daniels's powerful vocal range.  If you are looking for original material that is sinister like a female-fronted Watain but packs the high-energy punch of Arch Enemy, Khaotika is what you're searching for.  Check them out on iTunes now, and join the Khaotika cult before everyone else!
